Eps 2 Act 3: Skin Game

This was wrong. It was wrong and it was not what Starfleet officers should be doing and the big goon in the suit had called them a harem and it made Talla's antenna stand up and a sweat broke out across her forehead despite the cooler temperature, for that was how her body reacted to stress... well, to nearly anything, really.

Ensign Zayna Ryler put her hand on Talla's shoulder and it surprised her. The small blue hand was already reaching for the pink-skin's hand to twist it into a hold before the security smurf realized it was a friendly, and glancing up she saw Ryler attached to said hand, as the human shook her head slowly. The customs officer was trying to calm Talla down. Was it that obvious that she was nervous? Of course, that was an understatement. Close to panic was a better summation of the situation. Deep in a slave auction they were being leaned on by the mob, who were driving up the price. At a slave auction for a Starfleet officer, an abused engineer. None of this was right, and all of these people should be punished.

That did not look like it was gong to happen today, however. The starbase needed parts, and apparently requisitioning them from Starfleet was not an option for some reason. So here they were in this den of vice, and they were bidding on a man, about to run out of currency- no, the goon was determined to run them out of currency regardless. Captain S'jt seemed as lost as Talla, Lieutenant Commander Saitan was bidding, Zuub was objecting or... trying something, doing something McCray would do with lures of sex things or something like that. The rest of the landing party were watching- This was something of a spectator sport at this point, the events tumbling along without their participation. Which was exactly how Talla felt.

The lost little lieutenant longed for the days when life was simple- she had her job to do and she did it very well so nobody got hurt and the missions were completed and life was good. Now she was here and always confused and out of her depth and what she knew to be right she shouldn't do because everything was shades of grey that she did not understand. Talla resisted the urge to take and hold the human ensign's hand. Right now she felt very adrift, but even out of uniform she was still a Starfleet lieutenant, and it would be inappropriate behavior to hold someone's hand like a lost child.

"340!" someone in the crowd shouted, then "350!" was heard. There was definitely interest in the emaciated engineer- which was bad news for the delegation from Starbase 42.
