Though still young she looks more mature then she really is due to her enhanced physiology. Her piercing emerald eyes portray sadness, while her Japanese ancestry makes her very exquisite to behold at times, as she seems to have inherited the best qualities from her parents’ rival clans.
Bio
Ajiso grew up in the Fukushima province of Japan under the shadow of Mount Azuma in the shrine of Masaki, which had been run by her family for the last seven hundred years. She wasn’t always destined to be the child to take over the shrine’s handling and responsibilities, but after her brother’s death and the mysterious disappearance of her older sister, there was little choice in the matter, though in the end with her father’s mysterious death and the shrine burning to the ground it’s become moot.
Unfortunately, her mother and fathers marriage wasn’t accepted well as they were from rival clans, and her mother left her father when she was six years old, after her older sister vanished. Until several years ago she spent the winter with her mother in Osaka, but her mother moved to the USA suddenly a couple of years ago to open a noodle house far away from Japan for some reason and Masaki hadn’t seen her until after her father’s death. There are rumors that her parents had an arranged political marriage in an effort to end the violence between their two rival clans; brutal violence that had been in existence for over five hundred years.
In the past, the Masaki clan was samurai, and when the emperor declared all samurai to put down their swords the Masaki clan obeyed. The put their blades away and became monks, hence the start of the Masaki shrine. Her mother’s clan, the Nakatomi clan, refused and turned against the emperor as outlaws. Only in the last century has the Nakatomi clan been able to move about society freely due to the reforms during world war two, but there have always been rumors of their wealth coming from illicit sources. For over five hundred years a blood feud between the Masaki clan and the Nakatomi clan has existed. The marriage of her parents was supposed to end that feud, but many believe that Totiro Masaki’s death was in fact last blow as it marked the death of the last male in the Masaki clan.
In school Masaki excels at math and all things athletics and was her school’s archery and kendo club up until she moved to America. She is proficient in the arts of Iaijutsu and Iaido, as trained by her father at the shrine, though this is never practiced outside of the privacy of a family dojo. She’s gone regional with kendo and kenjitsu, though never managing to claim a badge, while maintaining a black belt in aikido and is a lifelong practitioner of Tai-chi. She is also a practitioner of Kyudo, the Japanese Art of Archery. Like most her martial training, her father put a bow into her hands as soon as she was old enough to hold one and through this training she was able to excel in the school’s archery club.
Like most kids her age in Japan, she rode with a gang of girls, but her bike (moped) was left behind when she was sent to the states. It’ll probably be several months before it clears shipping, along with most of her other belongings. They were basically restless kids that had moments of instability, but rarely did anything to get onto the local authority’s radar. Shortly after her father’s death and the destruction of the Masaki Shrine she was sent to live with her mother in the United States; which is also the start of her story. Her mother runs a Japanese noodle restaurant in Neptune located next to the Wal-Mart called Mihoshi’s Noodles, where Masaki works waiting on tables and cleaning up most nights for tips. Her mother, being a traditionalist, is often hard on her daughter, but not without her own reasons.
Each day, before school, she personally oversees her daughters continuing martial education and doesn’t take to being disobeyed easily. As was explained to Masaki many years ago, it is the mother who trains the daughter, and the fathers who train the sons. Since Masaki had an older brother and sister her mother didn’t put as much time into her, but with the disappearance of her older sister some years ago her mother has apparently patiently waited for an opportunity to train Masaki. The death of her father and the burning of the shrine along with her relocation to the USA has done just that, delivered Masaki into her mother’s hands again.
Powers
Ajiso’s powers are all about physical augmentation. Her origins are unknown to her and she didn’t think anything special of herself until her teens when she suddenly realized she was better than others in almost all things physical. Someone arrogant might have used that for self-advancement and gain, but she decided to be more humble and instead limited herself to certain sports where her lifelong practice could be used to explain her extreme abilities.
Physically Augmented
Ajiso’s is four times as strong as any Olympic athlete. She can casually lift two hundred pounds, bench over eight hundred pounds, and with effort move 3200 pounds. She can run 24 miles an hour or about a mile every 2.5 minutes. She can hold her breath for up to twelve minutes. She’s presumably more resistant to infections and disease, though she still manages to catch the occasional cold. While her bones are denser than normal human bones, they can still be broken, though the force required is more than double the normal amount needed. Unfortunately, the same physical augmentation has a downside, it makes her body run hot, around 105 degrees is normal for her. The Source of her physical Augmentation is not currently known.
