Penny's family has recently moved to Neptune from Saskatchewan, Canada.
Her father, Bill, is part of an exchange between MSU's College of Agriculture and her sister college in Sk.
The entire Wright family has followed him down to the the States for the year long exchange.
Bill and Jeanette Wright are both employed at MSU, as well as their oldest son Derrick.
Spencer, 14, volunteers at the veterinarian college on weekends, and has joined the school band and yearbook committee.
The two youngest Wrights, twins Riley and Jordan, attend East Neptune Middle School and spend much of their spare time playing soccer and getting into trouble.

Penny has never lived anywheres but the family farm in rural Sk until this year, and really has no idea about American politics or economy. She gets good grades in school, except math, which she is piss poor at.
She is a more or less normal kid - she doesn't have problems with authority, she is friendly and gets along well with all of the various cliques, and doesn't mind babysitting her brothers.

For the past few weeks she has been noticing strange things happening at her high school....
