Physical Description: Rachel's about 4'11 with long dark red hair and green eyes. She's petite, with a really tight but curvy gymnast's body.

Superstrength. Although never weak for her size, Rachel will eventually develop some really freakish superstrength.


Personal History:

Rachel Rubenstein was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Always an athletic kid, Rachel tried all kinds of sports before zeroing in on gymnastics at about 6. She had a real talent for it, and but for circumstances, might well have gotten a shot at the Olympics. Unfortunately, life through some monkey wrenches her way. When she was ten and on her way to a meet with her mother, their was hit by a drunk driver. Rachel's mom died, and with it, any real chance of Rachel making an entire life out of competitive gymnastics. She lost the will for awhile, and by the time she got it back, it was clear that the logistics just wouldn't work. Rachel's dad, Roger, tried his best, but his wife's death stimulated his own demons, and raising a ten year old daughter by himself was a really daunting task. Roger, who was working as an ER physician tried really hard, but traveling to gymnastics meets was impossible.

In seventh grade, after her dad transferred her to a nearby all girls school, Rachel quit gymnastics entirely, choosing instead to play basketball at the urging of a friend. Although her height was a real physical limitation, Rachel proved to be very good at it, and it didn't hurt that practices were at school and her dad didn't need to take her to games. Basketball proved to be just what she needed, a team sport where she had real teammates and not just competitors. Rachel was quick, coordinated, and was a damned good point guard.

In the summer after her eighth grade year, her Dad Roger, announced to her that they were leaving sunny and swampy Louisiana to go north to the Michigan tundra where the government said they needed a doctor. Rachel was scared, but not altogether unhappy about the change. No matter where she was, high school was going to be a big change, and getting Dad away from things that reminded him of her mom seemed like a great idea. A new school, with boys, and a new life actually sounded pretty good.
Personality:

Rachel's a sweet kid who's smarter than her looks (or her grades) might indicate. Her mom's death dulled and reshaped her fierce competitive streak, but its still there. But, in a way, the whole last couple of years have left Rachel both more mature emotionally, thanks to dealing with her dad, and less so, particularly where boys are concerned.
