Iris walked into the school. She wasn't expecting much, after all she was just back after being expelled, agian. Her hair was black with blue stripes today and she wore a black short shirt with blue plaid stripes and a black button down, also lines in blue. To complete the image, she had on matching blue lipstick and black eye liner. She looked every bit the cross between punk and goth.
Hopefully she wouldn't get into trouble agian today, but she had a reputation and the teachers loved to kick her out to avoid problems. They wouldn't consider that she was planning to turn over a new leaf.
She sighed. She could really use a good fix right now.

Oliver locked up his bike then hefted his backpack and his gym bag. It was going to be nice to have a car someday and not have to manage both on a bike ... He was dressed in his usual, untucked button down shirt, khakis, and loafers, and his hair was unkempt from the ride. He looked around the entry hall for Lisa before noticing a new face.

He walked over to her, smiled, extended a hand, and said, "Hi, I'm Oliver. You're new, but you don't look like a Freshman. I transferred in last year, so I thought I should say hello and see if you need a hand."

Grace Thompson took the message and shook her head in sad disbelief. Douglas Ray and his children had left Neptune to head back to Montana to deal with a custody battle. Whatever faults that David might have had, his father, Douglas had definitely had a positive influence on the school. Sure, there were rumors that when he and his wife had separated that he had been dating the school counselor, Daisy, but she had left, as well. Nobody who was worth much seemed to stay around long. Such was the life in Neptune.

However, what was worse in Grace's mind is that Jameeka Green, the 27 year old Vice Principal was now the acting principal. Grace had nothing personal against Jameeka. However, she was unconvinced that Jameeka's style would work. She was young and thought from text books. There was no common sense in that brain. She did not know when to bend the rules or even what that might entail. Too many young folks, in her mind, thought the same: it was all right or wrong, black or white and they forgot they were supposed to be molding minds.

There was nothing to be done. She waddled over to Jameeka's office and handed Jameeka the note. Nearly choking on the first word, she said, "Miss Green, this is for you." Stark differences were obvious between Jameeka and Grace. Grace was older, grey freely showing in her short hair. Jameeka was young and thin, except for her protruding, tight back side which put her in great favor with young men. Even Grace could not help but watch students and other men watching it sway, especially when she walked in heels down the halls. Grace doubted that this was lost on Jameeka. Whereas Grace favored minimal makeup, Jameeka used it to excess, especially with bright red lipstick.

Jameeka ignored the slight indignation in tone and said, "Thank you, Miss Thompson. I will take it from here." She then walked over to the public announcement system and spoke during homeroom, "Students, this is Jameeka Green, your Vice Principal. Due to circumstances beyond our control, Mr. Ray will no longer be the principal here. In his absence, I am in charge and will continue until the School Board either makes my appointment as principal permanent or until they hire a new one. Please remember that our first football game is on Friday and the football team and cheerleaders have a car wash fundraiser tomorrow. So, support your school and clean up your car!" The last few words were overly enthusiastic. She continued with the announcements and concluded, "Have a great day and Go Tridents!"
