Kat looked at the Captain, and then over at the Doctor. Again, he came to her rescue, so to speak; now in charge of the Mission to the planet's surface and she felt a bit less apprehensive. "Thank you, Captain," she said directly and returned the Doctor's smile. "And thank you, Doctor." The touch was a definite reassurance, and she nodded, agreeing with him. "I certainly hope it's a boring time," she chuckled a bit self-consciously. "But at least I'm in good hands."

It would be a cake walk, she hoped inwardly. But she, as well as any of the rest, knew that anything could happen in the cold, inky blackness of space, and wondered if somethng quite a bit more... dangerous... than a few Engineers bent on taking advantage of a seemingly innocent and defenseless woman, might constitute the line drawn in the sand for helping her. It would be easy, wouldn't it? To simply remove some... impediments...

She noted the tension between Science and Medical... odd to see since they were both operating on the same side, so to speak. But apparently, she didn't appreciate something about him... nor, it seemed, about anyone. Inwardly, she shrugged, knowing that her PADD and her wits would be her weapons on the surface, and the rest of this silliness be damned. Why the tension, she wondered. They were all in the same boat together, weren't they? So, why would they not cooperate in order to make it better, easier... more viable... even advantageous...

Kat shook her head once as if to clear it.

"Well, I'm ready to stretch my legs..."

Commander Mary Wells
Executive Officer

Mary had mixed feelings about this expedition. She still was set on finding a way home. Not settling down on some rock and becoming part of Gary's harem. Part of her had already been going through the ship's crew roster, and there wasn't a lot of choices for potential continuation of the human race from what she could see. There was a lot of room for males to have their fun, but she honestly was not looking forward to being a homesteading pregnant polygamous wife as opposed to her current path and desire.

The shuttle should be prepared and ready for the trip. Wells decided to remain where she was unless forced to. Her desire for self preservation was currently outweighing the push for scientific information that automated sensors and probes could deliver. She kept her gun close and ready if needed.

Mary looked at Gary, Blow her a kiss? How very unprofessional of you, captain. But then again, you never have been professional, have you? Always looking for your next score. Her thoughts were dark as she stood silent and waited for the investigation party to leave.

Kat felt a little exposed, heading off the ship, but she supposed that safety was never really a commodity that they could count on, especially now. With a sense of finality, she looked around the Bridge, and took a final look at the people she was heading off with and nodded briefly. "Thank you, Captain," she said softly, and headed off to the armoury to get some protection, in case their scans were incorrect... or the animal population felt more energetic than expected. This was a whole new place with possibly a whole new set of rules, so, no precaution was thought of, at least in HER mind, as outside of acceptability.

After heading to her quarters to gather a few things quietly and trying not to disturb Shelly, she headed to the Cargo Bay, and their designated shuttle. Her heart was hammering in her chest; she wasn't sure if it was fear or anticipation... or a twisted sense of both. She thought back on the rather unremarkable planet, and reminded herself harshly not to judge a book by its cover.

Biting the inside of her lip, she took another deep breath and stepped up to the hatch of the shuttle, Apollo. She hoped that the ancient god that drove a chariot across the sky hauling the Sun might prove to be a prophetic one, in a good way.

They had to get down there, get this place figured out. Ci knew that she had to put on one of those silly suits as well, which she did always hate. But, this was a new planet to explore, right? The things that scientists dream of.

Gathering up the few things that she needed, Ciara then made her way to the shuttle, finding her suit waiting for her. Stowing her gear in the Apollo, she got herself into the suit, but was going to wait until the last minute to get the helmet on.

She then looked over at Kat and gave her a smile. “This should be an interesting trip.”
