Cindy went silent after hearing her chiefs' various opinions but most were suggesting attack. However, Cindy was not motivated towards aggression, unless it was in sports, which was more than perfectly acceptable. After all, the team had a duty to try and win. She reasoned with herself, Exactly how is this different, Cindy? Upon hearing Aislinn's thoughts, she found an area that she could exploit. It would give the attack two possibilities and at least one could lead to a peaceful solution....

She tightened her lips slightly and said, "Very well. It seems that most are in favor of an attack. It also seems that some of you feel that more information is necessary. Based on Nav's 'whiskers' we can determine the Romulan ship's gravametric bending of time and space." Cindy took the time to give a smile of acknowledgement and gratitude to Nav. "However, while that gives us an idea of the mass it does not give us the dimensions of the ship, or of what it is composed. Consequently, we do not know exactly its location and the sensors cannot lock for firing of phasers."

A sigh escaped Cindy's mouth as she continued, slightly breathlessly at first, giving a sensual tone to her voice. "So, we will attack with a random at our first opportunity of visibility or location determination. If it becomes apparent that there is no time when we can determine exactly where it is, then we will fire blindly. Either way, we will hopefully fire to disable and get the Romulans to surrender by using all of their energy."


Vodden nodded gravely. There was little else to say, it was a necessary evil that had to be done.

Cindy then turned to the doctor and said, "I hope that we will have no need for your services."


"Agreed, Captain. I understand everyone's aversion to this, but it's necessary. I stand by my earlier statements."
Jill said a little more firmly than she intended. "Do what is necessary, many lives depend on it."


Slightly disturbed at the decision she made she told those assembled, "This is certainly not what I had planned for our first encounter on our five year mission but we have our duties to fulfill. I pray that we will return to peaceful explorations shortly.

"As do we all..." Vodden breathed softly..

The doctor rose from her chair and prepared to leave. She took one last look at Cindy gauging her and wondering if indeed this flippant senior officer was truly up to this? At least the XO seemed to think so.

Nav was tight lipped, mostly because there were far too many factors that hadn't been considered with the decision to attack the cloaked vessel. It was a brand new configuration, and with very little information about its layout, fuel type, consumption ratios, and even something so simple as hull construction and shield strengths, this shot in the dark truly would be. There was no guarantee that the dispersal would simply disable the Romulans, or outright destroy them. Or perhaps it would only ping harmlessly off their hull that had been upgraded since Nero had come back through time to mess with everything. Perhaps that's why they were heading for Klingon Neutral Space: to discourage Starfleet from pursuing and offset a potential incident that could escalate the tensions between them.

With the plasma attack being a heavy handed combat maneuvre, it was up to the crew to ensure that Frankie made it through whatever that Romulan threw at Him. If she knew the full extent of the kinetic energy transfer, or even could hazard a potential discharge, she could shape the shields from spherical to ovular; stronger defense against a pointed physical attack. As it was, Nav was concerned about the decision made; perhaps there could be more information gleaned before they'd have to fire on it.

Her mind was going a mile a minute, and she stood, waiting for every senior officer to exit before continuing out the Briefing Room door, and headed down to Engineering once more. Her tool kits retrieved, her PADD filled with scientific data, and her mind about twenty steps ahead, she stood in the turbo lift, barely aware of anything or anyone other than the approaching Engineering deck.

The next few minutes would be crucial, and she moved quickly to take her post as the muted Red Alert still flashed ominously at a steady pace. They needed to be prepared for whatever might come once the shooting began.

TK was getting a bit twitchy. Leaving him in command well within striking distance of a hostile target was akin to putting a lion in a gazelle pen and telling it not to chow down. In fact his hand jerked toward the fire controls more than once, but he managed to restrain himself. Insubordination was one thing, but causing an interstellar incident that would likely lead to a war the Federation was more than likely to lose, against explicit orders... well TK was pretty sure that amounted to treason.

The Romulan had to know that their cloak was less than 100% effective by now. The shields were up, but the sensor footage was quite clear in showing that they could de-cloak and fire almost immediately, and TK wasn't sure this scrap heap could take even a single shot from that plasma cannon. All in all, this was the worst combat manoeuvre since Market Garden. Sure let's waltz right in, tell the bad guys we know they're here, and THEN go have a strategy meeting while they decide the best way to atomize us with their future-tech weapon of mass destruction.

Treason was looking like a better option by the second.

The only hope any of them had for survival was the slim chance that the Romulan's were just as confused by the Legacy's brazen posture as TK was. Maybe they'd start wondering what secret Starfleet had up its sleeve that could justify such a ballsy move. Pretty slim hope, that.

The doctor returned to sickbay after the meeting and immediately checked to make sure Ensign Soban hadn't destroyed anything. Nothing was obvious, so she proceeded to call a meeting of her own.

"Okay so listen up people.." she said once everyone was assembled. "We're currently shadowing an enemy ship that attacked our outposts. We suspect it might be Romulan. The captain intends to possibly engage it and stop it's activities, so there's a high chance we may have multiple casualties here. I need every one of you to be ready for a mass triage, and surgeons stand by for surgery if required. Other then that, we go as usual. Conserve supplies, be ready to assist as needed. Trauma teams are already out, so those of us here, just sit tight and be ready in case anything happens. If you have questions, now's the time before things get dicey."

As Williams sat on the bridge, twitching and worrying the Romulan ship, he noticed that there was a comet that was streaking towards the Quo'nos' solar system. The Romulan ship adjusted its flight path to maneuver into the tail of the comet, which was shining brightly.

"Helm, if you lose that ship I'll have your balls bronzed. Science, whatever it takes, boost the gain on the whiskers. Just don't divert power from propulsion or tactical systems."

"No captain, not currently. But, we should probably talk later when there's a lull in this situation and get some groundwork under us concerning needs of the crew and your own health." Jill smiled then moved to the doorway.

"Those scheming bastards are making a run for it." TK reported, "They're trying to lose us in that comet's tail. We need to act now or we've wasted our time coming here."

"The comet's tail?" Cindy mused aloud. "Interesting. Have they changed course at all since plotting towards the comet? After all, we can't see them to lock phasers right now but if they go through the tail, we would get a streak enough to fire on. We can out maneuver them. They only have impulse." Cindy smiled.
