Mission 3, Day 3

As the staff in Sickbay recovered from the unusually rough handling, Varina had made her way to a console that would show her what emergencies were happening elsewhere on the ship. "We're recovering from a few stumbles here, Captain. There doesn't appear to be any serious injuries around the ship. Only a handful of minor bumps and bruises. Should I be preparing anything more serious in the immediate future?"

As she answered, and waited for a response, she tagged a couple of her staff to check on some specific injury reports, in case they turned out to be worse than what she'd been told. To the rest of Sickbay, she signaled a double check of instruments and supplies to be sure they were ready if this bump in the road turned into something worse.


Cindy responded simply, "I don't know at this time. Stay prepared. We are going to yellow alert."

"Aye aye, Captain." When the communication had finished, she turned back to her staff. "Yellow Alert's coming. Let's be prepared for whatever's coming, folks." She and others made final checks of the devices, hyposprays and their contents, and supplies. If whatever this was got worse, it would get busy down here. Until then, it was a waiting game.

"I concur," Nav said. What kind of attack happened so passively? "As for the cloaking technology, there would have to be a frequency that would disrupt it, or penetrate it, so we at least know who or what we're dealing with."

Whether it was good or bad was irrelevant. They had been studying the Romulan technology so that was something. No matter how it was obtained, although that didn't sit well with Nav, but with the future-past transgressions of Nero, there had to be some line drawn somewhere. And she supposed, here was as good a place as any.

"I can begin with known frequencies and spread out from there if necessary, Captain Cindy." She swallowed reflexively. Nav didn't suppose whoever was out there would appreciate being uncovered or probed. "However, I'm open to other options as well."

Ensign Neza Glenn knew to be quiet. She was always hidden down in astrometrics, working on her own things, but constantly alert to what was going on with the sensors. She didn’t want to get herself into trouble during her first real mission after the Academy. Likely people knew her reputation, and she figured staying here would keep her away from fighting with anyone who she disagreed with.

But no one was speaking up. No one was paying attention to what was actually happening. Was there anyone from science even up on the bridge, seeing what she was seeing? Other things were going on, sure, but wasn’t this important?

Pushing her hair back out of her face and into a ponytail at the base of her neck, she double checked what she was seeing before taking a deep breath, tapping the comm on the controls she was at.

“Astrometrics to bridge. I don’t know if anyone noticed, but the particles are heading into..something..sixty degrees from our face. Only the particles, not anything else. Has anyone been watching that?”

Captain Jackson strode purposefully onto the bridge. A smile was on her face but her eyes were a determined hazel, green outshining the brown. As she strode onto the bridge, she made sure to greet everyone before she sat in the Captain's chair. When Phil arrived, she gave him a determined nod, her face unreadable as to what she meant. She hoped that Phil understood.

Cindy then turned to Ensign Oswell and said, "Luke, use the force." She stifled a giggle. "Sector 348.58, Warp factor 6, please."

Luke forced down a chuckle. Coincidentally, he'd just watched Episode 45: The Last Sith, a week before. Star Wars was awesome, never got old. Luke worked his magic: "Course laid in Jedi Master Jackson, engaging."

Once Legacy arrived, the ship rocked, as if it was a car that suddenly dropped its shocks at the same time someone hit the breaks. Legacy limped forward as Cindy first called out, "Nav, what the hell happened?"

Luke quickly checked all systems, then let out a small sigh of relief that whatever had happened wasn't his fault. But then, what had happened?
As everyone was trying to look for an answer, Luke said:

"I have a bad feeling about this..."
