There were only eight people in all of Starfleet on which TK felt he could trust implicitly. Twenty-three hours after he had left the Legacy in orbit he was sitting in the office of one such individual, finishing up the eighth incarnation of this same conversation.

The newly minted Commander Cameron, Aide-de-Camp to Admiral Styles, did not seem particularly pleased by what TK had said.

"You're putting me in a difficult position, Williams." She accused.

"You know what's a difficult position?" He countered, "Drifting through a debris pile that used to be a top of the line starship while a psychopath destroys a planet within spitting distance. But, of course, you know that."

"Is that really how you want to do this?" The Commander asked icily.

"No, but if I was the kind of guy who shied away from a job just because I wasn't fond of the method of execution you'd have died at Vulcan."

"Fine." She reluctantly agreed, "You know how bad this is likely to get?"

TK just pulled on the front of his tunic, emphasizing its colour, in answer.

"You know how to contact me me." He confirmed.

"Dismissed Lieutenant."

TK made it back to the Legacy with just minutes to spare before they left orbit.

"Lt. Williams taking Bridge Tactical Console for departure." He announced for the ships log.

Captain Jackson strode purposefully onto the bridge. A smile was on her face but her eyes were a determined hazel, green outshining the brown. As she strode onto the bridge, she made sure to greet everyone before she sat in the Captain's chair. When Phil arrived, she gave him a determined nod, her face unreadable as to what she meant. She hoped that Phil understood.

On the intercom, she chimed to Engineering, "Nav, are we ready?"

tag - Nav

Cindy then turned to Ensign Oswell and said, "Luke, use the force." She stifled a giggle. "Sector 348.58, Warp factor 6, please."

tag - Luke

Once Legacy arrived, the ship rocked, as if it was a car that suddenly dropped its shocks at the same time someone hit the breaks. Legacy limped forward as Cindy first called out, "Nav, what the hell happened?"

tag - Nav

She looked over at Williams, "What's our situation here? Any reports from Security? Or Soban?"

tag - Keth and Williams

With security taken care of, she checked on the health of her crew. "Sickbay, report!" Cindy hardly wanted to address the new Doctor by name.

tag - Varina

Cindy then turned to Lieutenant Gorgu, "Do you hear any mysterious signals here? That is what we were sent to investigate. Are we even in the right place? Any explanation for our abrupt arrival?"

It had been an interesting transition from Ensign to Assistant Chief and now Chief Engineer... she wasn't sure if there had been anyone else to achieve such a skyrocketing rise through the ranks, but Navkiran Khangura wasn't one to shy away from responsibility. Not ever. She had straightened, discussed, listened, directed, mentored (and still was), and of course, defended... but in the end, though strained, she had hoped to have overcome at least even the hardest headed engineers. But now was not the time to dwell on the preparation... now was the time to answer the Captain, uhm Cindy... hell, Captain Cindy...

"Aye, Captain," she said formally and took a sweeping glance at her crew. 'Her' crew... wow... it would take some time getting used to that. "Everything's a go."

Cindy then turned to Ensign Oswell and said, "Luke, use the force." She stifled a giggle. "Sector 348.58, Warp factor 6, please."

That was a damned good question, she thought as she checked on Engineering crew members first, helping people up as she had someone scanning. Deep space... there shouldn't be anything out here, should there? I mean... "Unknown at this time, Captain," she said through gritted teeth. "Scanning now to determine what we might have collided with." Because from she could see, there was nothing on the sensors. Nothing at all.

Wait... nothing... "Check the sensor array!" she barked out moving quickly to focus on looking outside of the ship with her own eyes. Yes. Stars. So, something had happened.. and there wouldn't be answers from the sensors until... "Sensors were..." and then? They returned. As if by magic.

Nav narrowed her eyes and fed the sensor data to the bridge. "Working on what that might have been. Let me know if you lost any systems up there, Bridge, we had a brief loss of sensors. Working on determining the issue and can work with Comms and Navigation." Because there wasn't sufficient answers at present, and Nav hated admitting not knowing. But better that than bullshitting.

She hated that more than anything.

He wasn't at all sure that he did.

Oh, he knew that behind the cute exterior, her braincells were working at a million miles an hour. There was a little muscle twitch at the base of her jawline that he was pretty sure she didn't know she had, that he wasn't about to mention - partly because it might distract her with self-consciousness, but also in case he ever ended up playing poker against her and needed the advantage. There was also the small matter of her eyes. Quite what quirk of DNA had managed to make her irises effectively act like the stone in a mood ring, he felt sure medical science would never work out, but they changed quickly and with little or no warning and were another handy indicator.

RIght now, the indication he was getting was that Cindy was on Amber alert. Oh, she was trying not to show it and most people would have taken any excess energy that slipped through her shields as excitement for the upcoming mission, but no - her eyes were on the bridge, or perhaps the bridge crew, rather than the screen - like she was weighing up what she had, not what was to come...

Once Legacy arrived, the ship rocked, as if it was a car that suddenly dropped its shocks at the same time someone hit the breaks. Legacy limped forward as Cindy first called out, "Nav, what the hell happened?"

Phil eased his grip on the console. Although his "sea legs" were pretty much re-established, one being a prosthetic still hampered his balance when the unexpected occured. Even seated, it affected his centre of gravity. He made a mental note to book more time in a simulator. He couldn't afford to be distracted if the ship were under attack. As it was, there didn't appear to be any follow-up actions or overt threats. Perhaps it was a natural occurrence for this area. Nevertheless, he began checking in with the other less-tactically critical departments while the Captain dealt with the first rank.

"You do think they use different bulbs? Or some sort of broad spectrum light filter to shift the colour?"

Keth mused as he was want to do on occasion, devoting sizable mental run time to 'The Big Questions'. These included, but were by no means limited to, such questions as: What is the meaning of life? Is entropy a downward slope towards the heat death of the observable universe, or is there some means of reignition? If matter cannot come out of a black hole in an organised fashion could it be pulsed in via some sort of planet sized binary system? Why is there no tar in Rocky Road? If fruit and vegetables are not sentient, why do they bruise? And given that space is infinite, and by that same proposition if time was also infinite...

Did they use three bulbs or a colour filter?

Keth had been standing in the turbolift mulling over that particular conundrum for about ten minutes now. He'd uuumed, and arrrhed, and at one point coughed a little as he swallowed the wrong way. He knew this line of questioning was vexing the other people in the turbo lift, but they had been kind enough to remind him regularly that he needed to select a floor. One of them had been kind enough to try and select a floor for him. Humans were nice, don't let their sordid and terrifying history of barbarism and momentary enlightenment fool ya.

"You know what....I'm going to go for a walk. Walking helps me think." Keth announced to a small round of applause. No sooner had he spoken the words than the doors were opened, and he was aided out on his way.

Maybe they used both a tri-bulb system AND a photonic filter? Redundancy being the brother of survivability. So many layers...

TAG-No one, just throwing my two cents in until something happens.

Cindy called back down to Nav, "Sensors went out for a moment but they appear to be operational now. Did you do something?"

"Negative, Captain," she said honestly, taking a deep breath and turning to the monitor at her station. What the hell could knock out sensors? In the middle of nowhere? Deep space... anomaly... or EM pulse... but the sensors would have been protected from such a possibility. Unless of course, the EMP had been of immense proportions, or... pinpointed with specific direction. Like an attack.

Which means that, if that were the case, they would lose sensors again for a purpose that they might not be aware of at this time. She scanned the shields, hull... and began looking for damage of one form or another. Even the smallest variation would mean....

But there was nothing out there. Unless... "Send out a full spectrum wave particle bombardment and track the trajectories...." If there was something invisible and untrackable? Or anything at all out there? Perhaps that would give an indication.

"Keep all eyes open," she said. "And let me know the moment the diagnostic is done."

She sent a message directly to Security. "I'm routing our sensor readings directly through to your station, and am performing internal and external diagnostics. And making sure we really are alone out here."

Hopefully that was an affirmative. Because the alternative didn't inspire her too much at all.
