SERVICE RECORD:
Joined Canadian Naval Reserve in 2235 at age 16 as a Naval Communicator. At 22 was accepted into the Royal Military College. Graduated at age 26 and commissioned as a Public Affairs Officer. Conducted trades training – promoted to SLt[N]. At age 30 began an exchange with Starfleet. In 2250, at age 31, was offered and accepted a Starfleet commission as a Lt. Passed up various times for promotion – not because of anything she had done wrong, but because of an old military rule where anyone who joins after they turn 30 is penalized for their age. Joined USS LEGACY for a new recruiting/public awareness program, recording non-sensitive operations and goings on, interviewing crew, and writing blogs about day-to-day life onboard a Starfleet vessel. This is all part of an ongoing push for more personnel to replenish the ranks after the events of the past 5-10 years, and to perhaps draw the interest of those who would otherwise shy away from military service.

STRENGTHS: Is very personable and outgoing, and is a very caring person. She was torn when first joining the military as to whether she would go into psychology or become a Padre.

Of Metis heritage, Marian has always been a caring person who strove to help those in need. Had she not taken the path she had, Marian likely would have ended up as a psychiatrist, or somewhere else within the mental health field.

As a child, though, she read science fiction and watched old tv shows and was drawn to the idea of joining the military or starfleet. So when she was old enough she joined cadets, and from there moved up to the Naval Reserve when she turned 16. After catching the sailing bug and spending many years going up and down the eastern coast of North America, she applied for – and was accepted into – the Royal Military College of Canada. She studied Military Psychology and Leadership, minoring in Communications and Broadcasting. Upon graduation she was Commissioned and granted the rank of Sub Lieutenant, then sent for trades training to be a PafO [Public Affairs Officer]. After working for some years at that, Marian was promoted to Lt[n] and sent to the 'States to do first-of-its-kind exchange with Starfleet.
That next year she was offered a commission in Starfleet and, without much hesitation, accepted.
That year – 2050 – she met her husband Mark, an instructor at Starfleet Academy. They were married in 2054. At the destruction of Vulcan, he was on board the Farragut, and perished. Due to the possibility of either of them being injured or sterilized in some incident in space, Mark and Ari had embryos frozen and stored for the future... now she is just waiting for things to settle down so she can begin a family.
