CHARACTER HISTORY:
Born in Bombay as the striving for discovery and exploration into space had begun, her name was reflective of her parents' hopes for hers and their future. Her father had been a stay-at-home dad, looking after her older sister and herself as they grew. Her mother was a robotic engineer that had begun her career working on artificial intelligence and moving into creating androids that resembled human beings as closely as possible at the time.

Nav had grown up with a set of tools in her hand and a burning desire to learn. She had always looked up, being shorter than most of her family, and one day noticed the stars above them all. Her desires had never stopped, and she began building transports, as well as tweaking their vehicles for superior power and of course, peak efficiency. By the time she was 15, she had restored her great-great-grandfather's Mustang, replacing the old fuel-burning engine with a much-improved power source. She had developed a few innovative techniques for making do when nothing else was available, especially when her parents grounded her for her antics during regular school.

It had become apparent by the time she was ready to choose a career, that a life led without challenge and adventure could not keep her out of the trouble they saw in her future. Nav was enrolled into Starfleet Academy and was accepted with her high grades and mechanical aptitude. She had been identified as a perfect candidate for Engineering school, and was put through the rigorous curriculum developed to separate the wheat from the chaff. She rose to the challenge and managed to carve out a
place for herself within the field.

Never satisfied with only one focus, Nav soon expanded her interests to include weapons, tai chi, writing and singing. Weapons were for protection, tai chi for focus and discipline, and the writing and singing were creative outlets. But for her, Engineering was never a chore; she loved working with her hands, getting in amidst the gears, discovering new ways to use old tech, and generally getting dirty. She never shied away from a problem, and although she might not be able to perform miracles, she would do her damnedest to look like she had.

After graduating from Starfleet Academy with honours, she requested duty aboard the USS Legacy. Her enthusiasm and confidence should more than make up for her lack of experience on a starship. But she's not afraid of learning, and will help where she can. She is proud of her accomplishments, and only regrets that her family is no longer with her to share in them.

She is outgoing, but doesn't discuss her family at all. She takes the anniversary of their death as a personal day, but the rest of the time is very involved in her work. She is driven and has ambitions for command ultimately, but is happy to start at the bottom and work her way up. After all, she is only an Ensign.
